Resumo

Attempting to raise the main traces of the Rio Grande do Sul lliterary history,
this article analyses the strongest moments of our local authors production, since its
origins until our days, essaying the following hypothesis: our literature does exist in
a narrow symbolical universe, because of the specific regional history of Rio Grande
do Sul.
