Trajetória do mercado de trabalho em Porto Alegre de 2000 a 2015

Resumo

Este artigo tem como objetivo descrever as principais tendências do mercado de trabalho dos residentes na cidade de Porto Alegre no período de 2000 a 2015, traçando, quando necessário, um paralelo com o desempenho do mercado de trabalho dos residentes nos demais municípios da Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre (RMPA). Os dados utilizados são provenientes da Pesquisa de Emprego e Desemprego na Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre (PED-RMPA). A análise busca avaliar o nível ocupacional, as taxas de desemprego e os setores de atividade econômica em Porto Alegre, principal polo econômico e de mercado de trabalho da RMPA. Na análise do nível ocupacional, o trabalho destaca três pontos: as características sociodemográficas dos ocupados, o incremento do nível no período, explicado pelo assalariamento, e a evolução da formalização do trabalho na Capital e nos demais municípios da RMPA. Devido à importância econômica da Capital na RMPA, o trabalho também apresenta a mobilidade pendular entre Porto Alegre e os demais municípios da RMPA.

Labor market trajectory in Porto Alegre between 2000 and 2015

Abstract

This article aims to describe the main trends of the labor market of the residents of the city of Porto Alegre between 2000 and 2015, drawing, when necessary, a parallel between such labor market and that of other residents of the municipalities in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre (RMPA). The data used are from the Employment and Unemployment Survey in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre (PED-RMPA). The analysis seeks to evaluate the employment level, the unemployment rates and the sectors of economy in the period between 2000 and 2015, in the city of Porto Alegre, the main economic hub and labor market in the RMPA. As regards the employment analysis, this paper highlights three points: the sociodemographic characteristics of the employed workers, the improvement of the level in the period, explained by wages, and the evolution of the formalization of work in Porto Alegre and the other municipalities of the RMPA. Because of the economic importance of the city in the RMPA, this paper also shows the residents’ dynamic daily occupational mobility between Porto Alegre and the other municipalities of the RMPA.
