Resumo
This paper has as purpose to describe the general characteristics of the transformation
moviment that, envolving the society of Rio Grande do Sul during the six
decades following 1870, generated the material conditions that defined the potentialities
and limits of the industrial implantation performed by this same society after
the last decade of the past century.
