Resumo

Starting from the study of the economic crisis and of the style of regional
development, the paper moves to analyze the model of the fifties and sixties. The
regional articulation of the productive system and the development of the periphery
are shown, characterizing the model of the seventies. Then is studied the regional
distribution of industrial activities during the seventies, describing and explaining
the new pattern of industrial location. Finally, the problems related to regional
development and local resources are approached with a decisive interrogation: Is
there an autonomous path to development?
