Distritos industriais e política industrial: notas sobre tendências recentes

Resumo

The main purpose of these notes is to analyze the relation between
the development of industrial districts (composed by small firms) and
some industrial policy actions, especially at a regional level. To establish
this analysis, the main tendencies of the new paradigm of industrial
production and the topics which are considered essential for the adoption
of an "active" industrial policy are briefly described. Next the main features
of industrial districts are defined and the interventions of industrial policy
which guarantee the success of several european industrial districts are
studied in its main aspects. The role of industrial districts in the recent
economic development is also analysed. The paper ends emphasizing
some points that should be crucial to industrial estrategies concerning
industrial districts in less developed countries.
