Inovação tecnológica de firmas em Sistemas Locais de Produção: a realidade dos produtores de máquinas para calçados do Rio Grande do Sul

Resumo

O tema central deste trabalho é compreender a geração de inovações tecnológicas de firmas pertencentes a Sistemas Locais de Produção (SLP). Parta tanto, estabeleceu-se como questão central “quais são e que características têm os elementos influenciadores do processo de geração de inovações tecnológicas de firmas de um mesmo segmento produtivo pertencentes a um SLP?”. Para respondê-la, realizou-se uma investigação de campo no segmento produtor de máquinas para calçados do Rio Grande do Sul. Dentre os vários resultados, destaca-se a importância da proximidade geográfica para a troca de informações e conhecimentos e para o processo de mudança tecnológica do setor. Esses fluxos apresentaram dinâmicas distintas e são estabelecidos por grupos específicos de firmas, apontando que o local é formado por um grupo de firmas com comportamentos heterogêneos e que o conhecimento tecnológico não está “difuso no ar” nem flui livremente entre as empresas.

The technological innovation of firms in local production systems: the reality of the shoe-manufacturing machinery segment of Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

The central theme of this paper is to understand the generation of technological innovations of firms belonging to Local Production Systems (LPS). The central question is "what are and what features have the elements that influence the innovation generation of firms from the same productive segment belonging to a LPS?". To answer this question, a field investigation was carried out in the shoe-manufacturing machinery segment of Rio Grande do Sul. Among the results, we highlight the importance of geographical proximity for establishing flows to exchange information and for the process of technological change in the segment. These flows showed distinct dynamics and are established by specific groups of firms, indicating that the location investigated is formed by a group of firms with heterogeneous behaviors and that technological knowledge is not "diffuse in the air" and does not flow freely between firms.
